And while I do take the ‘they’ll eat it if they’re hungry approach’, I also am dealing with a hangry girl every day I pick her up from school because even though her school lunches are free (again, something every child in our school gets), she doesn’t like the ‘processed’ food and chooses not to eat it(I guess that means I cook healthy?)…still I don’t pack for her because, ‘that lunch is free, it’s balanced enough and hey, if you’re hungry, you’ll eat :P. But most of the other things, I naturally do…It’s how I was raised.

Also in the same vein: we have a new breed of parent. We’ve gone from helicopter moms to lawnmowers, who pave the way and make it smooth and nice for their kids. Your reference at the beginning of the post brought it to mind, with the parents helping and doing-for the kids, instead of letting them figure it out for themselves. And of course, it’ll change again in the next 10 years, but hey! At least we’re aware now, right?
