Chris “saved” his candy. I’d put a piece of it in his lunch each day and he ate two or three pieces of it after dinner. He had it for WEEKS! Ben ate ALL of his treats on Halloween night. Some years he got sick and some years he didn’t. I don’t know how anyone could eat that much candy in one night.

We had quite a lot of leftover candy by 9:00 and tried leaving it outside in a 99c Store jack’o’lantern bucket with a “Help yourself” sign, assuming it would be grabbed. (It was, including the bucket.)

I’m grateful this year that Halloween fell on a Saturday and Daylight Time as well. No school! Last night was perfect for me. I blasted music, propped up my feet at the open door, read my book and waited for customers.

As far as raiding the candy, hmm, my antiquity prevents me from recalling how much Halloween “tax” we charged you guys. I know this year I was content to dig out Special Dark minis and the little Twizzlers from the candy we passed out. Today we both go back to eating healthy so the kids can rest easy. (Okay, we still have leftovers from celebrations at Another Broken Egg and Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, but no more candy.)

By the way, that Facebook picture of the grandkids was an absolute classic. Beautifully posed and shot. Calendar-ready.
